What to Expect
Welcome!
If you are feeling a bit anxious about your first counseling session, that is completely normal. Starting something new, especially something as personal as counseling, can bring up a lot of feelings. My goal is to make you feel as comfortable and supported as possible.
From the moment you walk in, you will be in a safe, confidential environment where you can express yourself openly. I am here to listen without judgment and to support you.
Where do I go?
My office is at CREOKS Health Services at 6510 S Western Ave #400 in OKC. You can park anywhere in front. The office is located at the back of the business park, facing east. When you enter, check in with the front desk and have a seat in the lobby. Restrooms are available and there is a small area for children to play. I will come get you when it is your appointment time. I also have the ability to do our sessions via Telehealth if you prefer. I use a HIPAA-protected platform that you can access via your phone, tablet or laptop.
What do I bring?
Your first 1-2 sessions will be with an intake specialist. They will go over all paperwork with you prior to us meeting. The intake paperwork will help me get to know a little about yourself and how I can help you, in addition to your insurance and contact information. Have those items available in those first sessions. After those sessions are completed, all you need to bring is yourself!
What will we talk about?
During our first therapy session, I will ask some questions about your background, current situation, and what brought you to counseling. This helps them understand your unique needs and how they can best support you. You will discuss what you hope to achieve through counseling. Whether you are dealing with stress, anxiety, relationship issues or something else, we will work together to set realistic goals.
How often will we meet?
You may decide to schedule bi-weekly or even weekly sessions as your schedule allows. Remember, this is your space and your journey. I am here to support you every step of the way. If you have any concerns or need more information before your first session, don't hesitate to reach out to me. If you are using Medicaid or SoonerCare, there may be limits to how many sessions are covered, and your intake specialist will go over that with you.
Does therapy have to be
faith-based?
faith-based?
You can expect professional, caring, respectful interaction with your clinician. Not only will I not force faith or religion on you, I won’t force anything on you. You are in charge and can lead the sessions according to your comfort level.
Therapy didn't work last time...why now?
Life has many seasons. Therapy can work differently with different clinicians and during different seasons. Just keep trying, you'll learn something new no matter who you see!
Relaxing and Comfortable
My office is cozy and comfortable, offering respite for those who need it most.
Art-Focused Healing
My focus on art is evident in the space and I always have art supplies on hand.
Calming Environment
House plants and soft lighting bring life into the space.
